Spine’s May update brings the last update date of the project to the database and info page, developers can update their projects more easily and we added beta support for games besides Gothic mods.

A feature that has been requested a few times is to show the date a project has been updated the last time. This date is displayed in the database and on the info page.

Another thing that wasn’t that great before is updating projects (as developer). So far every single file had to be added and that wasn’t very handy when many files changed for an update. Now it’s possible to select a whole folder. Just keep in mind that only the files in this folder we part of the update. Read more about it in our tutorial about Publishing on Spine.

If you joined our survey beginning of the year you already know that we thought about expanding Spine to cover more than just Gothic 1 and 2. We did a lot of refactoring of the core of Spine to support this and now added support for other games. That means real games, not mods for another game. It’s in beta state at the moment and needs to be properly tested, but in general we support publishing free games via Spine now. More on the concrete plans in the next update (and no, we’re not becoming another store, at least not anytime soon).
