The Spine March updates finally fixes the D3D11 patch bug, adds very basic support for Gothic 3 and allows to create desktop shortcuts for projects!
Spine 1.29 finally fixes the bug that after installing the renderer another “update” was triggered and after installing that update, the renderer didn’t work anymore. There were actually two bugs here: one caused the update to trigger because a wrong version was downloaded. The other one was that installing the renderer update failed. Now both problems are solved and you can update the renderer again safely.
Another big feature is the Gothic 3 support. Don’t expect too much for now as it is just possible to configure the path to Gothic 3 and then start the game via Spine. For the Steam version of the game you need to check the Steam checkbox in order to get it properly started. There is no patching done at the moment and mods aren’t supported as well yet. These features will follow, but it’s a little more effort to get it done for Gothic 3 than for Gothic 1 & 2, so it will take some time.
And then we also finally have support for desktop shortcuts to projects. You can create them in the library by right-clicking on the project. This feature only requires you to have started Spine >= 1.29 once with admin privileges.
Spine 1.30 will probably mostly get some work in the code base to finalize the refactoring (almost done, should be done with the April update!). And we will prepare some stuff for the future of Spine to make communication with our community easier to know better in which direction to develop Spine. More on that next month.
If you encounter any problems, please let us know so we can have a look at it. Also try to provide as much information as possible like your last steps and log files.
